About · Dallas, Texas

Independent. Fee-only. No commissions, ever.

Electric Car Advisors is a Dallas-based advisory practice for drivers, households, and fleets navigating the move to electric. We get paid by clients — never by automakers, dealers, or charging vendors.

Why we exist

The EV market is changing too fast for most buyers to keep up with on their own. Tax credits shift quarterly. New models arrive monthly. Charging networks consolidate and split. Lease deals appear and vanish within weeks. And the dealers selling these cars often know less than the buyers walking onto the lot.

We started Electric Car Advisors in 2019 because a friend asked us to help him buy his first EV. After a 90-minute conversation and a spreadsheet, he saved $7,400 on the deal he was about to sign — and avoided a charging setup that would have cost him another $3,200 to retrofit. Word got around.

Six years later, we've advised on over 2,400 vehicles for personal buyers, multi-vehicle households, and small commercial fleets across North Texas and nationwide. The model hasn't changed: clients pay us, and that's the only money we accept.

What independence actually means

You will never get a recommendation from us that's influenced by a dealer kickback, a manufacturer referral fee, or a charging-network commission. We don't accept them, and we publish that publicly.

Practically, that means:

  • About 1 in 8 of our engagements end with us recommending against the EV. Wrong driving pattern, wrong charging access, wrong financial timing.
  • We've recommended used over new in 31% of personal cases. The math frequently wins.
  • We've told fleets to slow down or pause. Electrification is not always the right next move, and a 200-vehicle commitment in the wrong moment is the kind of mistake that ends careers.

Who we work with

Roughly 60% of our work is single-vehicle personal buyers — first-time EV shoppers, gas-to-electric switchers, and households adding a second car. About 30% is multi-vehicle households (couples, family fleets, or driving-age teens entering the mix). The remaining 10% is small commercial fleets (5–500 units) and family offices managing multi-driver portfolios.

We work with clients in every US state and have on-site advisory partners in the DFW metroplex, Austin, Houston, and the Mountain West.

How we work

Every engagement starts with a free 20-minute discovery call — no obligation, no upsell script. If we're a fit, you'll get a written scope of work, a fixed fee (no hourly billing surprises), and a delivery timeline. If we're not a fit, we'll tell you who is.

For personal buyers, most engagements run 5 business days to 6 weeks depending on tier. Fleet work runs 6–12 weeks for the initial roadmap, with ongoing quarterly reviews if you want them.

The people

We're a small team — intentionally. Drew Evans leads the practice from Dallas, with a rotating bench of regional advisors for on-site work. We do not have a sales team, and we do not have a marketing department. Every email you send is read by someone who has personally advised on EV purchases.
